Application of the ordinance

The operation is subject to the rules of the German hazardous-incident ordinance. The notification under § 7 (1) was submitted to the competent authority as part of the permit procedure.

3

Activities on site

The plant produces biogas as part of the regional value chain from the following inputs:

  • Cattle manure / pressed cattle slurry
  • Cereal grains
  • Poultry manure
  • Horse manure
  • Maize silage
  • Whole-crop cereal silage (GPS)

Operations on site:

  • Storage of biomass as farmyard manures or silages
  • Removal of biomass and feed-in to the fermentation process
  • Pumping between the feed system, fermenter and digestate storage
  • Separation of the digestate and interim storage
  • Removal of the fermented digestate (separated or liquid) for transport and/or for application as farmyard manure on agricultural land in line with the German fertiliser ordinance
  • Production of biogas in a gas-tight fermentation system
  • Interim storage of the biogas in the gas-storage system
  • Power generation from biogas in CHP units
  • Use of waste heat to warm the fermenter
  • Use of waste heat for the estate's own district-heating loop
4

Relevant hazardous substances

8,233 m³ of biogas, corresponding at a density of 1.31 kg/m³ to 10,757 kg (Annex I no. 1.2.2 of the 12th BImSchV — "flammable gases", threshold 10,000 kg).

5

Population warning and conduct in case of an incident

Biogas is produced and stored in a closed plant that is continuously monitored by measurement, steering and control technology, and is burned via combustion devices (CHP units and flare). A release is therefore very unlikely. Should one nevertheless occur, affected residents are identified and informed in a targeted manner with appropriate means.
